How do I book a stay at Poppy Dementia Suite?
Poppy Dementia Suite is available to book via your dedicated social worker. Please contact them for further details or to request a stay.
If you would like to make a private booking, please contact us via email: dementiasuite@iamaspire.org.uk and we can discuss any availability and costings with you.
What do I do if I don’t have a social worker?
If you don’t yet have a social worker, it is advisable that you contact your local Adult Social Care Team. Our suite is available to book by any Greater Manchester local authority.
An assessment of need will help you to get the right level of care and support for your loved one and may include support in the home, day service support, or respite care.

What happens next?
Once a social worker has made a referral, or you have made a private booking, we will arrange for our team to visit the person being referred, in their own home. During the visit, we will find out more about their needs, their likes, and dislikes, and the ways in which dementia impacts their daily life so that we can best support them during their stay. We will usually contact you to arrange a visit within two weeks of receiving the referral.
After the home visit, once the referral has been approved we will invite the person referred, along with their social worker and family member/carer, to visit our dementia suite to experience our surroundings and find out more about our bespoke service. This also helps to familiarise the person visiting with our facilities and environment and offers re-assurance to families or carers who want to see first hand where their loved one will be staying.
Do I have to pay for a stay at Poppy Dementia Suite?
If a referral has been made via the Adult Social Care team they will be able to discuss costs with you in more detail. If the person you support qualifies for council-funded care this can usually be covered via the Adult Social Care team or through a personal budget, but we recommend speaking to your Social Worker to confirm this.
If a respite stay is not able to be commissioned via a social worker, we will be offering the option to pay privately and ask you to contact us on 0161 607 7150 to discuss this.
When will I know if the referral has been successful?
Once the home care visit has taken place, we will contact the Adult Social Care team within 72 hours to let them know if the referral has been successful and to check availability. The same timescales apply for private bookings.
Is it possible to arrange a viewing at the Poppy Dementia Suite?
If you would like to view our facilities please contact us on 0161 607 7150 or email dementiasuite@iamaspire.org.uk to arrange a suitable time.
We can arrange for you to visit the Poppy Dementia Suite, or Poppy Dementia Day Support, so that you can see first hand what we can offer and how we can support you and the people you support too.
Can you cater to special dietary requests?
We can cater to special dietary requests, including allergies, religious restrictions and medically recommended diets or plans.
Please include details of this on the initial referral form and then we can discuss it in further detail during the home visit.
Is the Poppy Dementia Suite accessible?
All areas of the Poppy Dementia Suite are accessible via wheelchair. We are based on a single level, with accessible bedrooms, bathrooms, doorways, etc.
We also have a range of mobility aids available in some of our rooms including a hoist, bathing aids, and other specialist equipment. When completing our referral form, we ask you to provide details of any mobility or physical requirements and will discuss this in more detail during our home visit.
