Jordan Clark
Role: Apprentice Support Worker Level 2
Age: 24
Family: Mum of one to a little boy called Sonny
Where do you work / what is your job role?
I have been with Aspire for two months now based at St George’s Resource Centre as an apprentice support worker and I am loving it. At the moment I’m still getting to know the people we support, it’s great how different people are and I’m finding the role really rewarding. Being an apprentice means I am working towards a qualification with Salford City College in Health and Social Care, it really helps to be earning and learning at the same time.
What do you do on an average day?
My working day is really varied and ranges from supporting people in their session like art and drama, to helping people with their care needs. COVID is obviously having an impact and is making me really think about everything we do.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy learning new skills which I can transfer into my personal life as well as my professional life. Learning about communication has helped me become a better listener and also have a better understanding of individual’s communications needs.
What can be challenging?
At the moment COVID-19 is a big challenge to everyone, as it’s so important we get everything right as so much is at stake
What do you enjoy out of work?
I enjoy being a mum and spending quality time with little boy Sonny.
