Meet Jordan, our new Team Leader at the Poppy Dementia Day Support. You’ll often see Jordan around Poppy and Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, so make sure to say hello. We caught up with Jordan to learn more about him and we would love for you to get to know him too. Especially if you’re a family member/carer of someone we support at Poppy, a visitor of Humphrey Booth or a colleague at Aspire.

What is your role at Aspire?

I am the Team Leader at Poppy Dementia Day Support.

Why did you apply for the Team Leader role?

I applied for this role because, after researching Aspire, I had a really good feeling about the work you guys do. I love the fact that Aspire not only wants to provide the best care and be the go-to service, but also reaches out into the community and encourages people to be connected. I strongly agree with the company values and am excited to be part of Aspire’s journey.

What are you looking forward to in your new role?

I am looking forward to working with an amazing team to provide the best care for everyone comes through our doors. I also want to continuously develop new ideas to bring people together and help them get the most out of life.

Tell us a little bit about your career background?

I started in retail at 16 and became an Assistant Manager by 19. After 7 years in retail management, I decided to pursue a career where I can help others, as I had always been passionate about psychology and mental health. After leaving retail, I worked as agency at various care homes supporting people with dementia around Manchester and London. I then became a part time Team Leader in a learning disabilities service in Manchester, whilst also working part time as a Support Worker. In June 2024, I joined Aspire as a full time Team Leader for Poppy Dementia Day Support.

What is life like outside of work?

Outside of work, it sounds kind of conflicting… but I love living in the busy city centre but also enjoy a relaxing low stimulation lifestyle and often do yoga, meditation and have a huge love for music. I have two cats that I spoil and treat like my children. I love learning new things, often watching documentaries on YouTube to expand my knowledge, especially around mental health. I also enjoy going to the gym six days a week.  Next year, I plan to start travelling the world more, I have never travelled much but after recent trips to Gran Canaria and Cyprus, I definitely have the travel bug.
