Hi, my name is Jamie and I attend Alexandra Community Hub.
I am a member of Alex’s monthly forum meetings, where me and my friends discuss what activities we are enjoying, what we would like to change, what we would like to do in the upcoming month and much more! I love being part of the forums as me and my friends share our ideas and aspirations, and with the help of our support workers we are able to plan and achieve all of our exciting ideas!
In the most recent forum we have been discussing ways of staying healthy. Me and my friends had an idea of spending more time in the garden at Alex and growing our own fruit and vegetables to enjoy and eat but also to share with our community.
Our idea came at the perfect time as we was later introduced to Robyn, (the new green spaces activity co-ordinator at Aspire). I was so excited when I met Robyn for the first time, I couldn’t wait to share my ideas! I showed her around Alexandra Community Hub and explained where I think it would be great to grow our fruit and veg.
We have already made a start in our garden at Alex, I love getting involved, trying new things and it’s even better knowing we will one day see the seeds we are planting grow into delicious fruit and veg!
I can’t wait for the summer to show you all what we have grown and offer you to try some of our fresh fruit and veg.
