This Christmas has been busy and full of fun, just as we expected. There has been parties, days out, nativity plays, pantomimes and lots of festive activities. Scroll down to see what our Community Hubs, Granville Respite Care, and Supported Living have been up to in December. Thanks to all our teams for making it so special.
Waterside Specialist Support.
Waterside Specialist Support enjoyed visits from Santa, a Winter Wonderland sensory story, and made lots of Christmas decorations. They also had fun playing instruments, listening to music, and singing along with Dominic the Music Man.
St George’s Community Hub.
St George’s has been as busy as ever this Christmas. They had a great time meeting Santa, enjoying a Christmas party with music and dancing, and having Christmas dinners. There were fun days out, including meeting Ricky Hatton, and the highlight was their very own Cinderfella pantomime. It was amazing, and they welcomed family and friends to watch their fantastic performance.
Brierley Community Hub.
Brierley Community Hub hosted a festive evening filled with fun. The people we support, our local community, families and carers enjoyed live music by singer Dee Dee Allen and the Street Gate Strummers. They browsed stalls for last-minute gifts, played chocolate bingo with Santa, and took part in other festive activities.
Throughout December, the celebrations included baking Christmas cakes, having a festive party, and enjoying a Christmas lunch.
Last but not least, they performed their own nativity play and invited families and carers to watch. Well done to everyone who participated.
Poppy Dementia Day Support.
Poppy Dementia Day Support had a great time celebrating Christmas early. Everyone enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner, pulled crackers, and shared jokes.
In the lead-up to Christmas, they have had their weekly pamper sessions, participated in festive chairobics, and decorated Poppy’s Christmas tree. They also joined in on Christmas Jumper Day by wearing their favourite festive jumper!
Supported Living.
Supported Living has had a busy and festive December. They’ve been out and about, taking part in lots of Christmas activities. Highlights included going bowling, Michael visiting the dementia memorial event at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Neil enjoying a full English breakfast in a local café, our tenants decorating their homes, Claire visiting the RHS to meet Santa, and Michael spending a relaxing sensory afternoon in the MSR room at Waterside.
Humphrey Booth Resource Centre.
At the start of December, Humphrey Booth Resource Centre hosted a Veterans Christmas Dinner, welcoming over 40 armed forces veterans and Ceremonial Mayor Tanya Burch. The event was a great success.
Throughout December, our Aspire 2 Age Better volunteers organised Christmas dinners and parties alongside weekly festive activities like arts and crafts, music and dance for dementia, chairobics, and more.
We also welcomed pupils from Moorside Primary School, who performed lovely carols for our local community and the people we support.
In addition, we held our annual Dementia Memorial Service. Thank you to everyone who joined us in remembering loved ones.
Granville Respite Care.
Granville has had so much festive fun. Staff and people supported have enjoyed dressing up in costumes, decorating Christmas trees, going to pantomimes, and having Christmas parties. Everyone staying during the festive season has had a magical time.
Alexandra Community Hub.
Christmas was in full swing at Alex Community Hub. The people we support received hampers donated by Edge Worldwide Logistics LTD, an annual tradition that is always so thoughtful.
Festive activities have been keeping everyone busy. From baking mince pies and creating hampers to making wooden elves and wreaths. The hub is now decorated with Christmas ornaments made during arts and crafts sessions, including handmade baubles.
To top it all off, the people we support were gifted with presents from Alex Hub.
