Where do you work?

Hi, I am Maz, I am the new Service Manager at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre, Poppy Dementia Day Support and Poppy Dementia Suite.

Why did you apply for your role?

I applied for the service manager role, to make a positive impact to the people we support, making them comfortable in accessing services in the community, the same way they were able to when they were fully independent.

What are you looking forward to in your new role?

I am really looking forward to joining the teams as we make lasting memories for the people, we support at Poppy Dementia Day Support and the Poppy Dementia Suite.

A little bit about your career background?

I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years predominantly in mental health and learning disability sector starting as a support worker, progressing through to managing, commissioned and non-commissioned services. I have had experience in working in difference services ranging from mother and baby unit, children and adolescence services, adult services, secure mental health units (low/medium and high), Dementia Residential services. Before my social care career, I was a hotelier and worked in hotels as a food and beverage manager.

What is life like outside of work?

I love reading books, spending time with my family, shopping, eating out and travelling mainland and abroad. I enjoy baking (just as someone handing the person who is baking ingredients) and cooking. I also enjoy taking groups of young people on faith camp retreats.
