What does an average day look like for you?

I oversee the day to day running of the unit – keeping the staff and service users safe. I am here at 6.30am and leave at 5pm. I have always been an early riser. A lot of my role involves problem solving, answering phones, putting support plans in place and risk management. I have been at this particular unit for four months but with Aspire from the start. We are a specialist unit for people with complex health needs, complex behaviour and multiple and profound disabilities.

What do you like about your job? 

It is a really rewarding job. The people really make the job. I love seeing people doing things that make them smile

What is life like outside of work?

I live in Walkden and have six children and 15 grandchildren and my partner Ian. I love having a big family and for six years were have also had Mark live with us as an adult placement. Mark is 40 and was matched to Ian from Aspire’s Adult Placement Service. They have a fantastic relationship and Mark uses St George’s Day Centre (LINK) and absolutely loves wrestling.
