Dancing with Dementia is a local charity for people living with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

The charity organises various music and dancing-themed events, on a weekly basis, across Salford including a weekly session at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre in Swinton. See below for more details.

Music and Dance with Dementia is a social group, held every Wednesday, that is part of the Dancing with Dementia family.

The theme of music and dance is part of the morning’s special attraction, with live music, friendly faces and a warm welcome for all, from 10.30 am – 12 pm. Guests are encouraged to sing along to all their favourite hits from across the decades, and even take to the small dance area to get their hips and hearts moving if they wish!

After working up an appetite why not stay for lunch at the Forget Me Not Cafe? The meals are cooked fresh daily at the cafe, and provide a healthy hot meal at favourable prices. Enjoy a hot meal with your loved one, and relax as someone else takes care of the cooking.

Although Dancing with Dementia was initially set up for people living with dementia, their family friends and carers, after some research we found that isolation, loneliness and depression can be contributory factors to the condition. With that information, it was decided that we would open our doors to anyone who felt low in spirit to address a need and to improve the wellbeing of the senior citizens in the community. There is empathy and support for our guests from people who have walked their own dementia journey, who can help you to navigate what can be a difficult and lonely time.

There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day, but if you would like to find out more please call Lesley Fisher, of Dancing with Dementia, on 07442 167 208 or email lesley.fisher01@yahoo.co.uk
